Our Mission
The Institute for the Humanities is a non-profit organization based within the College of the Humanities and Social Sciences at Montclair State University. Founded in the mid-80s, the Institute’s purpose is to promote interest in and appreciation for the humanities. The Institute operates a very active outreach program for secondary school students and their teachers and for middle school teachers in New Jersey, offering conferences and workshops several times per semester, designed either for teachers (curriculum development) or for teachers and students combined. The Institute also offers several programs a year for the campus community.
