Persons with Disabilities (PWD) Shuttle

Transportation Services operates the Persons with Disabilities (PWD) shuttle as a complimentary curb-to-curb transportation service for students, faculty, staff, and visitors with short-term/temporary conditions or injuries and chronic conditions. The PWD shuttle provides on-campus transportation to and from regularly scheduled classes, meals, or other University-related activities.

Students

Students who require on-campus transportation must complete the Red Hawk Access Request Form.

Students with supporting documentation from a medical or mental health provider can receive authorization from the Disability Resource Center. The Student Health Center also provides authorization for students treated by them for short-term/temporary injuries.

Service must then be arranged with Transportation & Parking Services at least 48 hours before the requested date of transportation. To arrange services, contact 973-655-3326 or shuttle@freoreport.net. Requests are honored on a first come, first served basis.

Faculty/ Staff

Faculty and staff who require on-campus transportation must complete the Red Hawk Access Request Form.

Faculty and staff with supporting documentation from a physician can receive authorization from the Human Resources and Employee Benefits Office.

Visitors to Campus

Visitors to campus with a State-issued PWD license plate or placard who do not possess a University-issued parking permit should park in accessible parking spaces in the Red Hawk Deck, metered spaces, or any accessible space on campus using Paybyphone.

In accordance with applicable State regulations, those vehicles displaying a state-issued PWD license plate or placard that are parked in metered spaces in lot 19 need only pay for the first half-hour and then do not need to re-feed the meter for 24 hours.

Guidelines for the PWD Shuttle

The PWD Shuttle transports passengers between campus locations and will pick-up/drop-off passengers as close to one’s building as possible. Vehicles are not permitted to access the main campus core. This service operates Monday to Friday, 7:30 a.m. until 9 p.m.

Service requests are accepted Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Riders should be very specific about their pickup location and at the arranged location at the scheduled time. Drivers will wait only three (3) minutes beyond the time they arrive at the pickup location.

Riders are permitted a maximum of four (4) scheduled rides per day. “No shows” and short-notice cancellations will be included in the daily count.
